Hi! My name is Katie, and I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I graduated from Ball State University in May of 2022 with a major in biology and a concentration in zoology and wildlife conservation. I moved to Texas in October of 2022 to be with my boyfriend and his family. I was ecstatic when I was hired at SCAC because I knew it was the perfect fit for me, and I was incredibly eager to learn. Since I can remember, I have had a deep connection with animals. Growing up, you could find me outside with all of the neighborhood strays, doing what I could to take care of them. I feel extremely lucky to be able to do it as a career now, surrounded by amazing co-workers with the same goal. I have learned more than I ever thought I could in such a short time because of the guidance of my team members, it has been a privilege to learn from a knowledgeable, compassionate, and experienced team. A big driving force in my passion for this industry was my senior pug, Simon. The connection I had with him was like no other, he was my best friend, and he helped me in more ways than he knew. He lived 15 long and happy years, and every day it is my goal to help pets so that they can live long and happy lives with their people too.
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my boyfriend and his family, my big sister (who I was lucky enough to have moved with me), and our three cats. I love spending time watching movies, cooking, reading, playing games with family, and just spending quality time with the people in my life.
